Mr Pemmaraju has studied the subject since 1994, when a night bus from Imphal to Guwahati taught him that the body keeps its own timetable and does not consult the passenger. He has since classified 11,400 deposits by mass, consistency and time to lock. He did this personally. He does not delegate it.
His position has not changed in thirty two years. Shit is not a problem to be solved. It is a load to be managed, and then hidden so completely that the only person who knows is the person wearing the garment. Every layer made at the Works, every cuff, every indicator, exists to serve that second part.
He keeps a Bristol chart in his wallet. He asks house guests about their lunch with a precision his family describes as thorough. He has worn a garment to every wedding, funeral and board meeting since 1996, and he has never once been found out. He considers this his finest piece of work.
